Long-term effectiveness of family-level intervention for U.S.military children, families affected by wartime deployments

Research led by Dr. Patricia Lester (Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior) found that family-level preventive intervention can lead to improved behavioral health outcomes for military families affected by wartime deployment. The deployed parent, home-based parent and their children report results that highlight significant reductions in anxiety and depression symptoms after intervention.

The final presentation grappled with issues closest to home, largely under the purview of the goals articulated by the ambitious Sustainable LA Grand Challenge.
