UCLA, EDF identify opportunities to curb climate pollution, spur clean energy jobs in L.A.

New findings released by the UCLA Luskin Center for Innovation and Environmental Defense Fund were hilighted in a White House announcement. These findings indicate that achieving just 10 percent of L.A.’s rooftop solar potential could create 47,000 jobs and slash nearly 2.5 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually.

UCLA experts say L.A. should change water pricing structure to improve conservation

Researchers at the California Center for Sustainable Communities at UCLA, led by Stephanie Pincetl (Institute of the Environment and Sustainability, department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences), today issued recommendations based on the findings of a four-year study of water consumption patterns in the city of Los Angeles and the factors that drive residential water consumption.

Is that factory near you spewing toxins? UCLA students create website to tell you

A team of seven UCLA environmental science students supervised by Magali Delmas (Institute of the Environment and Sustainability and UCLA Anderson School of Management) and Travis Longcore (Institute of the Environment and Sustainability) have created a website that shows how emissions from local factories are impacting air quality in Los Angeles County.
